Custom AEM O-Rings, Gaskets and Molded Seals

AEM, or ethylene acrylic rubber, is considered for sealing projects involving heat and oil exposure. For a TG7001 component, define the geometry and service conditions alongside the material requirement.

AEM O-rings

Review circular-section seals for static joints and grooves. Provide the inside diameter, cross-section, groove drawing, tolerances and assembly conditions.

O-ring design and sizing guide ↗

AEM gaskets

Discuss molded gasket shapes for mating faces, covers and housings. Specify the sealing land, compression, bolt pattern and fluid-contact area.

Custom rubber gasket options ↗

Custom sealing profiles

Bring drawings for shaped seals or other molded geometries. Compound availability, tooling, manufacturing route and inspection needs are reviewed per project.

TG7001 AEM Physical Properties

The following values are transcribed from the supplied material report. Customer requirements and measured results are shown separately; these results are not finished-part tolerances or guaranteed values for every production batch.

Tear strength18.42 kN/m≥15 kN/mGB/T 529

† The source lists GB/T 533 for hardness as well as density. The hardness method entry requires confirmation; this page does not silently substitute another test standard. “Stress at 100% elongation” follows the Chinese property label in the report.

Heat-Aging Results Under the Reported Conditions

The report provides two air-aging exposures: 175°C × 168 h and 150°C × 1008 h, with GB/T 3512 listed for the aging sections. Compare the property changes under each stated condition.

Property change175°C × 168 h in air150°C × 1008 h in air
Hardness change†+5+8
Tensile strength change−10.2%−25.6%
Elongation change+1.5%+4.8%

Test temperature is not a service rating. These exposures do not establish a continuous operating temperature, service life or installed seal rating for TG7001.

† The report labels hardness-change rows with “%”. The numerical entries above are reproduced as entered. Confirm the unit and calculation basis before using them as relative percentages or Shore A point changes.

Compression Set, TR10 and Ozone Results

PropertyReported resultConditions / interpretation
Compression set29.7%; source limit ≤60%Listed in the 175°C × 168 h air-aging section. Compression-test method, specimen geometry and deflection are not specified.
TR10−28°C; source requirement ≤−20°CGB/T 7758. A material test result, not an installed seal minimum-temperature rating.
Ozone resistanceNo cracks50 pphm; 40 ±2°C; 20% strain; 72 h. Method listed: GB/T 7762.

The compression-set entry lacks a separately defined test setup. Request the method, specimen dimensions, compression percentage and recovery conditions before comparing it with another compound.

FUCHS4101 Oil-Immersion Results at 150°C

The supplied report identifies the test medium as FUCHS4101 and lists GB/T 1690 for the oil-immersion sections. The measured volume changes are shown with their exposure duration.

Identify your actual oil. The report’s medium name is not a complete fluid specification. These results do not establish compatibility with every engine oil, ATF, transmission fluid, fuel or additive package. Confirm the exact fluid and representative aging conditions.

† Hardness-change units require the same confirmation described in the heat-aging section. Review the rubber fluid-resistance evaluation guide when preparing an application test plan.

Applications to Review for AEM Seals

Prioritize projects where a static O-ring or molded gasket needs evaluation for combined heat and oil exposure. The following are engineering review directions, not claims that TG7001 has already been qualified in every listed assembly.

Cover and housing joints

Discuss oil-contact mating faces around automotive or industrial housings. Define the fluid, flange design, compression and thermal cycles.

Pump and fluid-transfer interfaces

Review static seals around housings and interfaces. Specify the exact lubricant, pressure, groove clearances and movement at the joint.

Heat-aged industrial seals

Compare candidate compounds against the required property retention and component leakage tests, rather than selecting by polymer name alone.

For background, compare AEM and ACM rubber or HNBR and AEM. Use TG7001’s own test data for this compound; general material-family information is not a substitute for grade-specific validation.

AEM O-Ring and Gasket FAQs

Is TG7001 a 70 Shore A AEM material?

The report specifies a 70 ±5 Shore A hardness target and records a measured result of 69 Shore A. Confirm the current compound specification and batch requirements when ordering.

Does the 175°C aging test mean continuous operation at 175°C?

No. It is a defined laboratory exposure of 175°C for 168 hours in air. An operating-temperature rating must consider the actual fluid, load, movement, seal geometry, aging and component validation.

Can I use the FUCHS4101 results for a different ATF or engine oil?

Not without assessment. Specify the complete oil product name, formulation or customer fluid specification, additives, temperature and exposure duration. The report only documents the named FUCHS4101 test medium.

Is TR10 of −28°C the minimum sealing temperature?

No. TR10 is a material test result. It does not independently establish cold-start leakage performance or the minimum working temperature of an installed O-ring or gasket.

Can AEM replace ACM, HNBR or FKM without changing the design?

Do not assume a direct replacement. Compare the exact compounds, fluid response, compression behavior, geometry and application tests. Use the rubber material selection guide to prepare candidate materials for review.
