With the increasingly higher requirements for refrigerants considering environmental protection requirements, traditional refrigerants R134a used in car air conditioning has been replaced by mildly flammable R1234yf.
R1234yf with a GWP of 1 has an atmospheric lifespan of only 10-12 days, making it more environmentally friendly. However, the safety level of R1234yf is A2L and it has weak flammability.
Environmentally friendly R744 refrigerant is a natural refrigerant and may be widely used in the future.Currently R744 refrigerant, it is used by Mercedes-Benz, Volkswagen, etc.
Currently electric vehicles with heat pump air conditioners using carbon dioxide (R744) as refrigerant is gradually increasing in the market.

4.Chevrolet Bolt EUV,
5.BMW iX3 and other models.
Traditional refrigerants are prone to freezing at extremely low temperatures and have low efficiency, using CO2 refrigerant heat pumps can effectively solve this problem.
CO2 refrigerant has advantages such as :
high efficiency,
low pollution, environmental protection,
work normally at extremely low temperatures.
Therefore, compared to traditional refrigerants, using CO2 refrigerant heat pumps can increase the range and stability of electric vehicles at low temperatures. However, it should be noted that in low-temperature environments, heat pump systems require more electrical energy to operate, which may affect the range of electric vehicles.
Due to the low boiling point of R744, only -78 degree. The working pressure of the conditioning system will be increased from 10bar of R134a to 100bar.
High pressure requires higher technical performance for rubber sealing, compressor, valves and other components.
